AUSTRALIA TO REMOVE TARIFFS ON 100% OF INDIAN EXPORTS FROM JANUARY 2026

Under the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA)

In a major boost to bilateral trade relations, Australia will eliminate tariffs on 100% of Indian exports starting January 1, 2026, under the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) between the two nations.

The move will grant duty-free access to all Indian exporters, significantly enhancing India’s competitiveness in the Australian market. The decision is expected to benefit key sectors including textiles, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, agriculture, leather, gems and jewellery, and MSME-driven exports.

Officials said the tariff removal will strengthen trade ties, expand market access for Indian businesses, and create new opportunities for exporters, particularly small and medium enterprises. The agreement marks a significant milestone in India-Australia economic cooperation and is aimed at promoting long-term trade growth and investment between the two countries.

The full implementation of ECTA from January 2026 is expected to further deepen strategic and commercial relations between India and Australia.
