New Delhi (FNO):
In a landmark move aimed at placing India firmly on the global sporting map, the Government of India has officially submitted its bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, proposing Ahmedabad, Gujarat as the host city. The formal submission marks India’s most ambitious attempt yet to bring the world’s largest sporting event to its shores.
According to officials, the bid highlights Ahmedabad’s rapidly developing infrastructure, including the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and the Narendra Modi Stadium, currently the world’s largest cricket arena. The proposal underscores India’s readiness to host mega international events and its commitment to strengthening Olympic sports culture across the nation.
Government sources said the bid reflects India’s growing economic confidence and its desire to emerge as a global sports hub. If approved, the 2036 Games would mark the first time the Olympics are held in India.
International Olympic Committee (IOC) deliberations are expected in the coming months, with competing nations also preparing their submissions.
The announcement has sparked widespread excitement among sports enthusiasts and athletes, who see the move as a potential turning point for India’s sporting ecosystem.
