New Delhi: A tragic road accident in Dwarka has left a 23-year-old man dead, allegedly due to a speeding SUV driven by a minor. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about reckless driving and juvenile involvement in road accidents in the national capital.
The victim, identified as Sahil (23), lost his life on the spot after a Scorpio SUV rammed into him with great force. According to police officials, the vehicle was being driven at the time by a 17-year-old boy.
Authorities confirmed that the driver was a minor. He has since been detained, and legal proceedings under the Juvenile Justice Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act are underway. Investigators are also examining how the minor gained access to the vehicle and whether negligence on the part of the vehicle owner contributed to the incident.
The force of the crash proved fatal. The post-mortem examination revealed that Sahil sustained severe injuries, including a fractured skull, multiple fractured ribs, and a broken elbow. Medical officials stated that the impact was so severe that he died instantly at the scene.
Eyewitnesses described the SUV as moving at high speed moments before the collision. Residents of the area reported hearing a loud crash, followed by chaos as bystanders rushed to help.
Family members of Sahil are inconsolable. Described as hardworking and full of aspirations, the 23-year-old had dreams of building a stable future. Those close to him said he was the primary support for his family and had been striving to improve their financial condition.
“He had so many plans for the future. Everything ended in a moment,” a grieving relative said.
Police have seized the vehicle and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to determine the exact sequence of events. Officials are also investigating whether the SUV was being driven under supervision or without authorization.
The incident has reignited debate over stricter enforcement of traffic laws and parental responsibility when minors are found driving vehicles.
As the investigation continues, Sahil’s family seeks justice, hoping that accountability will prevent similar tragedies in the future.
