Abdul Rehman, an alleged conspirator in the Ayodhya Ram Temple attack case, was murdered by a fellow inmate inside Faridabad District Jail on Sunday night, police officials said.

The incident occurred around 8 pm when Rehman, who was lodged in the jail, was allegedly attacked with a sharp object by another prisoner, identified as Arun Chaudhary. Jail authorities rushed Rehman to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Rehman, aged 19, was arrested in March 2025 in a joint operation by the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in connection with the alleged conspiracy.

Following the murder, a social media post purportedly issued on behalf of the Rohit Godara gang has surfaced, claiming responsibility for the killing. Mahendra Delana, said to be a member of the gang, posted a message “saluting” the accused attacker, Arun Chaudhary. The post stated that such a fate awaits anyone who goes against the country.

Police have launched an investigation into the jail killing and are examining the authenticity of the social media posts. Security inside the jail has been tightened, and further action is underway.
