Chennai | In a move aimed at strengthening citizen engagement and making public services more accessible, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to launch a dedicated mobile application titled "Ungal Urimaiyai Padhivu Seyyungal" (Register Your Rights) for residents of his Perambur Assembly constituency. The initiative is expected to provide a seamless digital platform through which citizens can register grievances, request essential public services, and monitor the progress of their petitions in real time.
The mobile application marks a significant step towards digitising constituency-level governance by reducing paperwork and enabling faster communication between the public and government officials. Residents will be able to submit complaints related to civic infrastructure, sanitation, water supply, roads, electricity, public welfare schemes, and other local issues directly through their smartphones.
According to officials familiar with the project, the application has been designed with a user-friendly interface that allows citizens to upload photographs, documents, and supporting evidence while filing complaints. Each grievance will receive a unique registration number, enabling applicants to track its status from submission to resolution. Notifications and updates will be sent to users as their petitions move through different stages of processing.
The Chief Minister's office believes the platform will improve transparency and accountability in public administration by ensuring that complaints are digitally recorded and monitored. Government departments responsible for addressing individual grievances will be able to access the system, assign cases to concerned officials, and update progress regularly, reducing delays in service delivery.
Officials said the application is also expected to generate valuable data on recurring civic issues, allowing the administration to identify problem areas and allocate resources more efficiently. By analysing complaint patterns, authorities can prioritise infrastructure development and improve the quality of public services across the constituency.
The launch reflects the growing emphasis on technology-driven governance across Indian states, where digital platforms are increasingly being used to bridge the gap between citizens and government institutions. Such initiatives aim to make governance more responsive while reducing the need for residents to visit government offices repeatedly for routine grievances.
Political observers view the initiative as an effort to establish a more direct connection between elected representatives and constituents while promoting greater public participation in governance. If successful, the model could serve as a template for similar digital grievance redressal systems in other constituencies across Tamil Nadu.
The "Ungal Urimaiyai Padhivu Seyyungal" app is expected to be officially launched in the coming days, with the state government expressing confidence that the platform will enhance transparency, improve service delivery, and provide citizens with a faster, more efficient mechanism for addressing their concerns.
