Mathura: In a move aimed at promoting tourism and showcasing India’s cultural heritage, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to establish the country’s first Cow Culture Museum in Mathura.

The proposed museum will focus on highlighting the cultural, spiritual, and scientific significance of cows in Indian society. Officials said the initiative seeks to present historical references, traditional practices, agricultural importance, and research-based insights related to cattle conservation and dairy development.

Authorities believe the museum will strengthen Mathura’s position as a major religious and cultural tourism hub. The city, already known for its deep spiritual roots, is expected to attract additional visitors interested in understanding India’s agrarian traditions and cattle-based economy.

“The museum will serve as an educational and cultural centre, offering visitors a comprehensive understanding of the role of cows in India’s rural and spiritual life,” officials said.

According to media reports, the museum will be developed on the campus of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University. The university is expected to play a key role in providing scientific inputs, research support, and academic collaboration for the project.

The exhibits are likely to include interactive galleries, historical manuscripts, audiovisual presentations, and information on indigenous cattle breeds, dairy science, and sustainable farming practices.

The project aligns with the state government’s broader vision to promote cultural tourism and rural development. Officials indicated that detailed planning and budget allocations are currently underway, with further announcements expected in the coming months.

Once completed, the museum is expected to become a unique addition to India’s cultural institutions, blending tradition, research, and tourism under one roof.
