Jharkhand (FNO): Two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured on Friday after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in the Saranda forest area, a region known for Maoist activity.
According to security officials, the blast occurred during a routine area domination and search operation when the patrol team inadvertently triggered the explosive. The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby medical facility. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Senior officers said the area has been cordoned off and a massive search operation has been launched to trace the Maoists responsible for planting the IED. Bomb disposal and anti-sabotage teams have also been deployed to sanitise the region and prevent further incidents.
The Saranda forest belt has remained a sensitive zone due to the presence of left-wing extremists, and security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance during operations.
